Klay Thompson Nears Return, Cleared for full practices

On Sunday, Nov. 21, Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic reported that Klay Thompson has been cleared to fully participate in practices and is on track to return during the week of Christmas.

Early that week during a marquee matchup versus the Nets, it was reported that Thompson has been playing 3 on 3. The fact that he’s been upgraded to a full participant for practices by the end of the week should be very telling and it should give Warriors fans a lot of hope.

Steph Leaps Klay in Elite Company

Last Thursday, the Warriors played against long-time rivals, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and after going into the fourth quarter down double digits, they emerged victorious, winning by 15. The crazy part about it was that 20 of the 36 third-quarter points the Warriors scored were directly from Steph Curry, although he was the main reason (as we saw in Toronto) the rest were scored as well.

The discourse surrounding Steph Curry never changes year-to-year. It usually includes the phrase “greatest shooter to ever live” and includes some cold takes like how he’s a net negative defender or he’s only successful because of Steve Kerr’s system. While he’s never had a coach like Kerr who could unlock his potential prior, he’s been much more than a shooter for awhile now, and it’s time to start giving him that recognition.
