Warriors Will Not Change Name From Golden State to San Francisco After 2019 Move

Ever since rumors began swirling regarding the Warriors moving out of Oakland and into San Francisco one of the main questions that kept being brought up was if the team would switch their name from the beloved Golden State Warriors back to the San Francisco Warriors which the team originally had from 1962-1971 after being called the Philadelphia Warriors from 1956-1962.  Today the Warriors have officially said that once the team moves into the Chase Center in San Francisco there will be no name change and that the team will continue to be called the Golden State Warriors.  Everyone can now take a big sigh of relief.

Wednesday on the Murph & Mac show Warriors President and COO Rick Welts cleared the air around the burning question.  “Let’s make it official” Welts said, officially declaring that there would be no name change in the foreseeable future for the powerhouse franchise.
