Draymond Green’s Mother Responds to Barkley’s Comments

At halftime of the Golden State Warriors’ semifinal game 2 matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans during TNT’s Inside the NBA show Charles Barkley said something that couldn’t be unsaid.  “I wanna punch his a** in the face, I do.”

Barkley would go on to repeat the same sentiment about 4 or 5 times on the halftime broadcast.  The rest of his co-hosts couldn’t hold themselves back from laughter and questioned his motives.  He didn’t offer much of an explanation but it was pretty clear that he is not a fan of Draymond Green and his gritty, not afraid to get in your face, style of play which is sort of a head-scratcher given Barkley’s own history during his playing years.

After the game Draymond Green had a very direct and straight to the point response to Chuck’s halftime comments.

A lot of guys talk on TV and stand behind the microphone on a tv screen but the fact of the matter is if you feel that strongly about something… he’s seen me a million times, if he feel that strongly about it then punch me in my face when you see me. If you not gonna punch me in my face when you see me then shut up. It’s no difference than somebody sitting behind a computer screen tweeting “I’ll knock you out!” and you’ve never seen em’ in real life. Well he’s seen me a bunch of times and he’ll see me again this year, punch me in the face when you see me and if not no one cares what you would have done. You old and it is what it is, so if you ain’t gonna punch me when you see me then stop talking about it, period.

Draymond’s mother, Mary Babers Green who isn’t one to shy away from speaking up for her kin did just that after Barkley’s comments aired.

@NBAonTNT Charles Barkley I wish you would.. you think Shaq had you RUNNING! #MANGONE

Soon after she doubled down with two more tweets.

He would not have done nothing but run like he did when he started the fight between Dr. J & Bird! @NBAonTNT
