Klay was one of the first to visit Jamal Murray after his ACL tear
Injuries will always be a part of the game of basketball. Of course, some are worse than others, yet still, NBA players put their bodies on the line night in and night out in pursuit of one day obtaining greatness. Klay Thompson, a presumed first-ballot Hall of Famer and three-time NBA champion knows better than most about just how devastating injuries can be. Having suffered two brutal injuries in back-to-back years has given Thompson a unique perspective on the mindset of those that sustain similar injuries.
Last April, when the Denver Nuggets visited the Warriors at Chase Center, the rising superstar and Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray took a hard fall while driving to the rim and sustained an ACL tear that inevitably has had him sidelined since. Unfortunately, in the wake of such a catastrophic injury, it is often easy to lose sight of the future and forget about what matters most.
After suffering his injury, Murray told Complex that Thompson had visited him in the x-ray room. Murray said, “he was just giving me advice on where he’s coming from and how long it’s been since he played and what to look forward to and how he managed it.”
Klay offering his support to Murray speaks volumes to not only his character as a person but also just how much he has been through as a player. Klay had no reason to offer his condolences to an opposing player but did so anyway, showing a great testament to the idea that sportsmanship is not dead but rather a cornerstone of the NBA brotherhood.
