Curry passes Ray Allen in all-time threes made with ease

The two-time MVP hit another milestone the other night on route to dropping forty points in a blowout victory versus the Bulls. Curry became the leader in all-time three-pointers made, including the playoffs with 3,366. The former number one spot belonged to Ray Allen with 3,358, but Curry passed that with ease and in 585 fewer games played than Allen.

The official stat doesn’t include the playoffs, but if it did then the record books would be in trouble as Curry isn’t looking to slow down anytime soon. His career playoff three-point percentage sits just above 40%. If you think about that, 4 out of every 10 threes he takes in the playoffs are going in, an insane way to look at his crazy success from long range in the postseason. The same can be said for the regular season, as it also sits at an efficient 43%.

At this rate, it is fair to question if anyone will ever be able to shoot as well as him because every night he seems to wow the crowd with his long-range shot-making ability. It is that shot-making that has gotten him so close to Allen, as he sits 78 threes away from number one all time. Reggie Miller, the old-school three-point specialist and the former number two spot had this to say when Curry passed him earlier this season, “This is an unbelievable achievement, but the work is not done. I know you are chasing Ray, but you are an inspiration to many little ones, like mine.”

And he is right, many people look up to Curry and believe he is the best shooter ever. He inspires kids to pursue their hoop dreams and inspires opponents to pull up for three on an open fast break. It is the way that he shoots the ball effortlessly, that makes hoopers want to play like him. It doesn’t matter if you're six-foot-eight or five-foot-two, if you can perfect your craft and shoot the ball, then you can play like Steph.

But not everyone preaches to play like Steph, after his forty-point performance against the Bulls, Chris Matthews, aka Lethal Shooter posted some constructive criticism on Instagram. He posted a Steph catch and shoot three where he turned to the crowd before it went in. The caption said, “Kids this isn’t a good shot! Don’t ever take it, and I mean this in the most loving way possible! Most people in the NBA can’t make this shot consistently except for Steph, because he is the best shooter to walk the earth!”

He preached that younger kids should focus on the fundamentals and mechanics of their shot before trying to catch Curry’s style of play. Matthews does have a point, as Steph is so far ahead of everyone else when it comes to shooting the rock because he’s put in the work since he was a kid. Most times he leaves opponents shocked with how he can consistently make threes and this is just one more example of that.

As he continues to wow fans, the end goal is ultimately in sight this season. Most people say that they wouldn’t be surprised if Curry passes Ray before Christmas for all-time threes made, not including the playoffs. But as for the “baby-faced assassin,” he’s just going to play his game until he breaks the record books and the opposing team’s morale on the path for competing for a championship.
