Three Free Agents That the Warriors Should Sign Using the TMLE

After an eventful start to the NBA free agency, it’s time for the Warriors to make some moves. Myers has $5.9 million through the taxpayer mid-level exception and he needs to use it. Don’t let it go to waste, you have no excuse to do so.

The Warriors need some more veteran leadership through these positions: a play-making guard and a frontcourt depth piece that can stretch the floor. With players like Patty Mills and Nicolas Batum gone, it’s starting to look like slim-pickings but I still see a few available players that would be good fits in the Bay Area.

Paul Millsap

The former All-Star would add some immediate help on the glass for a team that struggled in most rebounding categories. Millsap would also impact the game with his ability to shoot the three and create mismatches with his size at 6’8”, 250 pounds.

If you look at the past successful teams in this franchise, veteran leadership was key. Millsap brings a lot of that, competing in the playoffs in 12 postseasons during his 15 year NBA career with the Jazz, Hawks, and Nuggets. A perfect fit in the Warriors’ system for one (or maybe even two) more playoff push.

Andre Iguodala

I really don’t understand who wouldn’t want to see this reunion go down. Iggy has still got something left in the tank at the age of 37. He knows the playbook like the back of his hand, he’s very familiar with the key returning players, and was a fan favorite during his time with Golden State.

This could be exactly what the Warriors are missing from next season’s roster.

Bryn Forbes

Finding a remaining vet guard on the market has been tough. I don’t want to hear about Reggie Jackson (looking for the bag). I especially don’t want to hear about players like George Hill, Avery Bradley, or Jeff Teague. They’re all past their prime.

Forbes is only 28 years young. He averaged 10 PPG while shooting career-highs in field goal percentage (47.3%) and 3-point percentage (45.2%) off the bench. Most importantly, Bryn is coming off an NBA championship season with the Bucks so he knows what it takes to win.
