When asked about LeBron's big block, Iguodala shifts focus to Kyrie: "We take a lot from Kyrie Irving"
Andre Iguodala made an appearance on The Breakfast Club radio show on Thursday to discuss various topics ranging from entrepreneurship to his NBA career.
Among several hot-button topics that were brought up during the interview, one stood out more than the rest. Show host, Charlamagne tha God, asked Iguodala whether the infamous, “OH, blocked by James!”, moment still bothered him.
The former Finals MVP initially shifted the focus of his answer to Kyrie Irving.
"We take a lot away from Kyrie Irving. Kyrie Irving is one of the most different human beings I've ever seen play basketball. What he did that entire series, it's like, yo, don't take away from what he did. And he made that shot at the end of the game."
Iguodala really stressed Kyrie’s role in the Cavaliers recovering from a three-games-to-one deficit to go on to win the 2016 NBA championship. But, in all fairness, he did also go on a short rant about how great of a player LeBron James is as well. At one point during the interview, he called LeBron “the smartest basketball player ever“.
It should be noted though that Iguodala is a bit of a politician. He knows how to push and pull just enough when talking about these types of matters, as could be seen by another controversial take he had during the same interview. He made mention of some “external factors” at play that led to the Cavs winning the 2016 title, going on to say “Draymond didn’t (play game 5) for some reason”, speaking on the controversial game 4 ejection and subsequent game 5 suspension of Draymond Green. Iguodala immediately shifted directions after that statement and said that the Cavs were fully deserving of winning the title and that the best team had won.
I think we all know what Iguodala really wants to say. He actually just says it, but he delivers his messages in intelligent ways, to where nobody can really knock him for it. That’s what you call a true vet.
