Thompson hilariously shuts down Kuminga when the rookie asked to drive his car
One half of the electrifying Splash Brothers duo, Klay Thompson, recently posted a photo to Instagram of what appears to be his car. A flawless, glossy, fresh drop-top old school is featured in the image with Thompson standing next to an open passenger door.
The car suits the sharpshooting guard well, however, the mariner has lately been more well known for his famous jaunts around the Bay on his boat. We’ve been lucky enough to get glimpses of these trips from time to time when he livestreams them via Instagram, where he openly chats about all topics with tens of thousands of followers from around the globe. A highly entertaining watch to say the least.
Klay is no stranger to entertaining, whether it’s on or off the court.
His comment to rookie forward Jonathan Kuminga on his recent car post on the social platform was a perfect example of that.
An excited Kuminga commented under Thompson’s post flaunting his old school ride, “Gotta let me whip that 🚙😂”, to which the five-time All-Star hilariously responded with, “hell to the nah u crazy rook”.
My guess is it will take a few years for Kuminga to earn his stripes on his new team. But until then, he will likely have to go through a hazing process, much like any other rookie in the NBA.
Kent Bazemore comes to mind when I think about rookie hazing. Check out the time that Stephen Curry, Richard Jefferson, and other Golden State vets filled up Bazemore’s car with popcorn. Hopefully, Kuminga’s rookie right of passage won’t be this bad.
