When will Steph Curry break the 3 Point Record?

All eyes were on Stephen Curry as he walked into Chase Center on Nov. 8 versus the Portland Trailblazers. At the time, Curry was 16 threes away from breaking Ray Allen’s three-point record.

Although this would normally be impossible, Curry has changed the definition impossible, and everyone entertained the thought that Curry could possibly break the record. This would’ve also meant that Curry would’ve broken fellow splash brother Klay Thompson’s record of most threes in a single game. The fact that the media even entertained this idea in the first place should demonstrate Curry’s greatness, and the anticipation was as high as ever.

However, what transpired throughout the game was perhaps one of the more forgettable games of the regular season. It was clear from the jump that the Warriors were hunting for Curry, rather than letting the game come to him.

As a result, while the Warriors beat the Blazers, the game was not a pretty one. A depleted Portland team that was missing Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum should’ve been a convincing victory, but the game was methodical, and Curry ended up going 6/17 from three.

With that expectation lifted off his shoulders, Curry can go back to what he’s been doing all season and play like the MVP favorite that he is.

Steph has another chance to break the record versus the Sixers on Nov. 11, versus the Pacers on Nov. 13, and against the Knicks on Nov. 14.

The former back-to-back MVP is now only 10 threes away from breaking the record, and that mark is a little bit more realistic since he has made 10 three-pointers in 22 games throughout his career.

An even more impressive stat, Curry has a total of 132 threes made so far this season and is on pace to shatter his record of 402 threes in one season with 445.

When the Warriors visit the Sixers on Nov. 11, number 30 has the chance to break the record against his brother Seth. The Seth vs Steph matchups have always been entertaining, and Seth has developed into a sharpshooter himself.

The last time the Curry brothers dueled against each other was on Nov. 24, with the Warriors coming back from a 19-point deficit. Steph had a double-double of 25 points and had 10 assists, while Seth dropped 24 points.

Curry most likely will get the record against the Pacers on Nov. 13 should he come short versus the Sixers. The Pacers have had their fair share of struggles throughout the season, and with the Warriors rolling into town, the Pacers would have their hands full with Curry eying the three-point record.

It will be interesting to see when he will actually break the record, currently held by Ray Allen. I’ve never been a betting man myself, but if I had to predict when Curry will eclipse Allen’s record, I would put my money on the Sixers game.
